Our staff loves working here, and for good reason. Our “newest” staff member has been here over 4 years, and the rest of us quite a bit longer. We’re a close-knit group, like a family, frequently spending holidays and socializing with each other. In fact, our families are an important part of all our lives. That’s one reason our patients leave here feeling like they’re also a part of our family. We like it that way.
And we’re more than a family. Dr. Adams & Deena are, as you might have guessed, married, since 1998. We are also part of a very important community. Occupying the back portion of our office is a Chiropractic Neurologist (Learn more about Chiropractic Neurology.)
Dr. Rottacker is Deena’s brother, and his attention to detail and devotion to his patients is bar none. We have also joined forces with Tate Diagnostic (http://www.tatediagnostic.com/) because the opportunity to bond with your baby is so important! We trust their high degree of accuracy and appreciate the degree of efficiency we’ve experienced by partnering with them.
As you read our short bios, keep in mind that medical backgrounds aside, we’re here because of you. Yes, we love what we do… and we think part of the reason is that we’ve got some of the best patients in the world.
Deena Adams, NP, CNM Deena Adams received her RN degree from San Joaquin Delta College (a local girl) in 1987, and then her NP (Nurse Practitioner) and CNM (Certified Nurse Midwife) from the University of California, San Francisco in 1997. She interned at the University of California, San Francisco, San Francisco General Hospital, and in the valley at Fresno Community Hospital. Prior to obtaining her credentials at UCSF she worked in the OB departments at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Amador Hospital, Lodi Memorial Hospital and St. Dominic’s Hospital from 1987 until 1996. From 1997 until the present, Dee, or “Dr. Dee” as many of her patients refer to her, has been a Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse Midwife her at the Athena Medical Center for Women (11 years and counting). In terms of what she does here…the list never ends. She’ll spend the majority of her day with her Obstetrical patients while still maintaining 100% devotion to her Gynecology patients as well. Dee’s special talent and priority is to make each patient feel that nothing is more important than you. She consistently strives to see what she can do to make you feel better, from a natural, more holistic approach to the latest and greatest prescriptions and/or treatment options. Sometimes it just means being given the opportunity to cry on her shoulder or vent frustrations with the day-to-day grind. And Dee isn’t just talented- she’s thorough to a fault- she will encourage you to be an active participant in your health care and she’ll have fun with you while taking a serious look at your issues. She is definitely one of the sparks behind our fire! On the personal side, Dee, in addition to being married to Dr. Auther Adams, loves to spend time with family. In the winter, she spends time getting ready for the holidays when all the children come, and then just as much time recovering from them! She is the devoted mother of three- two of whom were homebirths. That is just one of hundreds of special touches that she brings to the hospital birth setting. She loves vacationing in Hawaii, a little R&R increases her ability to focus her full attention on your unique healthcare or on a time consuming labor. |
Dr. Auther Adams, MD Dr. Adams obtained his medical degree in 1980 from the University of Cincinnati. He completed his OB/GYN residency and internship at Letterman Army Medical center at the Presidio in San Francisco. Since then, he’s well traveled, having worked in hospitals in Seoul, South Korea, Heidelberg, Germany, in the San Francisco Bay Area, at St. Rose in Hayward, and of course here at Doctors Hospital in Manteca. Dr. Adams was awarded the Meritorious Service Award from the US Army in 1986 and has presented papers on various subjects, as they pertain to women’s unique health needs. He served as the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for 2 years at St. Dominic’s. He is currently the Chairman-Elect for the Department of OB/GYN at Doctors Hospital of Manteca. He even functions as an “Expert Witness” in litigation on an as needed basis for a major health care provider. As you’ll discover after you’ve spent some time with Dr. Adams his caring and gentle nature is obvious as he patiently guides women through treatment options and assists them in his daily practice as an OB/GYN. He has a passion for the precision required by surgery and has displayed a level of proficiency with several Gynecologic procedures that now enables him to provide these services in the office. Dr. Adams, like all of us, isn’t just a doctor. Besides having fun with his wife, reading, relaxation and rest provide the opportunity to rev his engines. Deena & Dr. Adams have one 17 year old typical teenage handsome, young son, two huge, 7 year old Black Labs- Zeus & Apollo, and one very eccentric and bossy 14 year old black cat- Dusty, who keeps everyone in line.
