Q. Can I choose which provider I want to see?
A. Yes. Only exceptions are "High Risk" & repeat Cesarean Section pregnancies.
Q. Do you have a 24 hour nurse line?
A. No. If you contact the office first thing in the AM, we can usually work you in for a same-day appointment if necessary. After hours in case of emergency go to the nearest hospital.
Q. Can I have a home birth with the midwife?
A. Sorry not at this time. Athena Medical does not carry insurance for the midwife to attend a home birth.
Q. If I'm under 18, can I come to you without a parent?
A. Absolutely. All appointments are completely confidential. If you have insurance through your parent, just be aware that when the claim is billed, your insurance company may send a statement to the insured (your parent) upon payment of the claim.
Q. Do you take my insurance?
A. We are contracted with most insurance companies, including: Aetna, Anthem/ Blue Cross of CA, Blue Cross Medi-Cal, Blue Shield of CA, Cigna, Health Net, Health Plan of San Joaquin, Hill Physicians (HMO), Medi-Cal, Omni/ Medcore IPA (HMO), Pacificare, United Health Care.
If you do not see your insurance listed, feel free to e-mail or call the office for more information. We will see patients who have out-of-network benefits with insurance companies we are not contracted with, including: Interplan, Multi-Plan/ PHCS, Beech Street, etc.
